The "Coats for Kids" benefit was originally conceived in 1999 as a golf tournament to generate funds to purchase winter coats for needy kids in the Upper Rogue River area.

From these beginnings, the tournament has evolved into a very successful fund raising event. It has grown beyond a fund raising event to simply buy coats into one that provides many monetary services to underprivileged kids.

A recent request came to the Board of Directors from the elementary school in Eagle Point to fund an after school reading program. Without this very basic skill, students often fail or become disinterested in school and eventually drop out or simply never catch up to their peers.


 The Board now provides ongoing funding to an after school reading program that has been extremely successful enabling many students to succeed in reading and thereby, in their education aspirations. This is but one example of where the funds generated at the tournament are placed.

HOW YOU CAN HELP US BE SUCCESSFUL

You can help us achieve our goals of supporting and helping needy kids in the Upper Rogue Area by donating money to the "Coats for Kids" benefit on the entry form when you register to play in the tournament. in addition we encourage each participant to donate an auction or raffle item. If such a donation is possible, please so state on the entry form when you register and bring the item with you to the registration desk the morning of the tournament. All donations made via the entry form or through the auction are tax deductible. Please be aware that all volunteers and people that serve you on the Board of Directors do so without compensation. Thus, "ALL"  money donated goes directly into supporting services or purchasing supplies for needy kids.

TOURNAMENT BANQUET: GREAT FOOD AND FUN

The tournament banquet will again be hosted by "Arthur's Restaurant" at Eagle Point Golf Course immediately following the Horse Races that will end the tournament. The outdoor eating facility adjacent to the scenic golf course provides an incredible setting for the awards ceremony, banquet,and always fun auction. The banquet is open to spouses, friends and guests who want to enjoy a good meal and the auction. The auction begins during the banquet following the no-host happy hour.
